She's Gone Country..Look At Them Boots!

That was a special song written long ago by my close personal friend AJ, as he was foreshadowing my life. Tis true. Although I wasn't raised in the country, when I get the opportunity to head down to Cheatham Ranch, I feel right at home. I love it there and Sundays are so depressing when we have to leave. How could anyone want to leave this? Friday afternoon I drove down to Robinson to meet up with Marty so we could head to the ranch. But of course, we couldn't be in that area and not first stop at the Heart O' Texas County Fair and Rodeo. I got plenty of lessons on the rules and techniques of several of the events. I'm sure he really wanted me to shut up and quit asking so many questions, because he was pretty focused on the contenders. Once it was all over, we loaded up the truck and headed out west - 4 wheeler, trailer, guns, bow & arrows, guitar, beer and some 'ole fashioned honkytonk all in tow. We got there kind of late on Friday night, so we just unpacked and crashed. I mean, that 5:30 am alarm comes when you're least expecting it, or when you're least welcoming it for that matter. I decided to forgo this round of bow hunting but encouraged him to go on, however he got suckered by the fluffiness of his bed too. Nothing too exciting went down, we just ran around doing some maintenance work on that feeders and stands, and then had to take on the tedious task of trimming trees. In between the night and morning bow hunts, our time was spent chopping and clearing the overgrown brush hanging over the paths of the 500 acre ranch. Did you read that correctly...500. 5 x 100. 100 x 5. 50 x 10. 10 x 50. FIVE HUNDRED ACRES!!! Okay, okay - he chopped and I was lef to clear the debris and drive the truck behind him. MyI made friends along the way and they liked to follow me around. It was a long weekend, full of work that was necessary to prepare for the upcoming hunting weekends, but I loved every minute of it. Well except the fact that I had to constantly be on the lookout for this. Yikes! I personally think that looks better on a pair of stilettos, but whatever, nature is nature.

I got home rather late last night, and had a real hard time getting up this morning...especially since it was raining. Where was that rain this weekend when I was sleeping under a tin roof? Needless to say, today has been a LOOONNNNGGGG day. I got to work and could barely even function. This is how I started my work morning, waiting for my computer to load...and maybe a few minutes after that.I headed down to Starbucks to treat myself to a caffeine boost. They even upped the size of my drink without even charging me. I guess they could tell I really needed a pick-me-up. Once I got my white chocolate mocha flowing, paired with a delicious slice of cinnamon coffee cake, I was one happy camper! But that only lasted until about 2:00 this afternoon, and it has been a nasty downhill plunge since then. Does it look like someone sucked the life out of me? Yay, clock says 4:59. I'm outta here! I can't wait to have a date with my couch tonight! :)
