WOW! What a complete fiasco this week has been. With all the stress between my mom's doctor appointments, Mark & Maegan moving with just a moment to spare...so we thought, there isn't much more we could take.
Friday afternoon, my mom called me at work to ask if I could come over that night instead of Saturday, to help set up all the furniture and get everything unpacked. Sure enough, I headed over there after work, and called to let them know I was coming. No answer, nor was there one on my dad's cell phone, my mom's cell phone, Maegan's cell phone or Mark's cell phone. I was thinking, oh crap - labor already?
I show up at the house and Maegan tells me that everyone is involved in a neighborhood-wide search effort for the dogs. Uncle Bob is visiting, and accidently let the dogs out when he went outside. Oh yeah, so the house is in shambles, and when I say that, I literally mean SHIT IS EVERYWHERE!!! Why would this not be a perfect weekend to have an out of town guest? So anyway, when the dogs get lose, talk about a nightmare. They first go for a swim in the pond, then run by the sewage plant and then all over the neighborhood, in and out of creeks along the way. We are pretty used to this happening by now, and can usually catch them at a certain spot, but Friday night proved to be a 2 hour hunt.
Mark called from his cell phone to tell me that he got one of the dogs. Great news, but not the best news. I questioned this though, as most of the time, the dogs are always together. Oh well, at least one dog down. So I proceed to ask Mark which dog he picked up, so that I could tell my mom who we were still looking for. He tells me to hold on a second, looks in his back seat and says "Shit! It's not even our f*cking dog."
Turns out, another black lab, very similar to our Daisy was out having a little stroll around the block too. Mark called the dog into the truck so quickly, he didn't even realize he was bringing home a dog that wasn't ours. I about died laughing, because seriously, this wouldn't happen to anyone else but us. So, once OUR dogs were found, we then had 5...count 'em, 5 large black dogs at the house. Our 'visitor' stayed the night with us until we were able to find his real home this morning.
