Concert Two

Chris, Danette, Kacy, Marcus and I ventured out to the House of Blues on Saturday night to see Matt Wertz perform. He is awesome and I definitely recommend checking out his music if you like John Mayer, Jason Mraz, etc. C. Carroll - I totally thought of you when I heard him play. It totally sounds like something you'd like.

I hadn't been to the HOB before and neither had Marcus. He said that if he would have known they sold beer in cans in the concert rooms, he would have come prepared with his own koozie. He was completely shocked when I said I actually carry one with me at all times and pull my beloved LSU koozie out of my purse. Luckily for him, I was drinking Blue Moon out of a plastic cup, so he got full access to my neoprene. Is it weird that I carry a koozie in my purse? I once wondered if that meant I was an alcoholic. Then I realized that if I was an alcoholic, I wouldn't need a koozie because I'd drink my beer too fast.

He put on a great show and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There was one big complaint though, and that was that none of the younger crowd would stop talking when he was singing his slower songs or trying to explain the background behind the music. I was extremely embarassed for the lack of respect that Dallas showed him during his concert and am appalled that these people have such a sense of entitlement to do what they please. Never have I been to a concert where so many people talked, used their phones to call or text other people, or just threw beer cans and cups down on a nice wood floor. It wasn't like we were at Fair Park or anything, but these people had no couth about them what-so-ever. I know it's hard for me to talk, since I'm not always full of tact, but I at least went to hear the music instead of to have social hour. It was even more disgusting when Matt actually stopped talking to ask them to be quiet and listen to him for 5 minutes while he could explain one of his passions and the reason why he wrong one of his songs, but the chatter only continued. I think I'm going to email him and apologize for the Dallas crowd, because I feel so bad to be guilty by association.
